Ohhh, work...
I need to start keeping a day planner or something, my shifts are all over the place, and I'm having a hell of a time keeping up. It has not been such an easy feat finding a day planner, either, though. Maybe I'll just get a notebook and make my own damn day planner.
My shifts have a tendency to be scheduled where by the time I get home, I need to go to bed if I want to get 8 or fewer hours of sleep. It's kind of unfair, I enjoy sleep... not getting it makes me crankyyyy.
It also prevents me from blogging as much as I want to :(
Work has been... well... work. I try to make the best of it, really. I kind of just do what I want as I go along... which is kind of nice.
Not to say that I'm a bad employee, I get everything done that needs to be done... but I also just do my own thing.
As in... I probably mess with the customers more than I should.
Oh well.
I've joined a book club, which has been great. Actually, we've had one meeting of the book club so far... but our second meeting is tomorrow. I'm really loving the ladies that are in the book club, it's a great group and a lot of fun.
I must say that I was nervous to join. I've never been in a book club before, and my fear was that it was going to be more like the English classes I took for four an a half years in university, rather than the hilariously fun gatherings that we actually have.
Thank goodness!
I think I may try to write shorter posts here and there, to keep up with my blogging that way, instead of looong posts all the time. Of course, I'll probably still write long posts on occasion, I know I have a tendency to ramble, so, it's kind of inevitable.
I think I'm having a hard time adjusting to the weather and everything in Canada after being away for a year. The snow here is finally gone, thank goodness... but I don't know if I keep getting colds or allergies or what.
The other day, I was awoken at four in the morning by the fact that I was crazy itchy on the tops of my hands and feet. I rubbed some hydro cortisone cream on, and took a Clairitin, and went back to bed. Then, when I woke up for work at 7:30, I was still itchy, and the itchiness had spread. I took two Benadryl and went to work. By the time I got to work, the itchies had spread all over, all up my neck, onto the side of my face, everywhere! It was awful. I had no choice but to ask if I could go to the medi clinic.
The doctor at the medi clinic wasn't entirely helpful. Are they ever? But, he did prescribe me some sort of crazy antihistamines. He warned me that they would make me drowsy, and that I probably shouldn't go back to work. I figured I would be fiiiiine. So, I took two--he said I could take up to three, and I was REALLY itchy--and went back to work.
Bad call.
Twenty minutes later, I was so out of it. I had lost all sense of balance, I was crazy dizzy, I was super drowsy, and I could barely string a cohesive set of ideas together.
No dice, I had to go home.
They let me go home, thank goodness, once the next person who was supposed to be working got to work.
I was home by 2:45, watched an episode of Grey's Anatomy (agh! So addicted to that show! I've started watching it from season one in the past few weeks. I'm on season five, now), and by the time 3:30 rolled around, my brain needed a nap.
I "napped" from 3:30 pm. to 5:45 a.m., when I had to be up for work! It was insane!
Needless to say, I will only be taking those things at night, from now on. Sheesh.
This weekend is the long weekend, and, of course, I have to work for the whoooleee thing. Lame. I do have my book club meeting to look forward to, and Death Cab for Cutie and Bright Eyes are playing on Tuesday, which will be awesome. Hopefully it will make up for the paint sale long weekend madness that I am about to endure.
Anywhoodles, I should go do my dishes, and eat some more tapioca pudding :)
Toodles, my lovelies <3
